Nat Wolff Is The First To Join ‘The Stand’

Nat Wolff

Having worked with director Josh Boone twice before it has come as no real surprise that actor Nat Wolff has joined the new adaptation of THE STAND. The film has up until recently found itself floundering in development Hell, having switched directors as recently as February. Hopefully with a cast member mentioned this means that the film is properly on its way now.

Originally brought to the small screen in a four-part mini-series which starred Rob Lowe, Molly Ringwald and Gary Sinse, THE STAND is adapted from Stephen Kings epic post-apocalypse story. Being a TV movie the original series has dated horribly and I for one am interested to see an updated version – just how they are going to cut down such a massive story (The TV show had four 90 minute parts) will be intriguing too.

The plot has an extreme strain of flu wipe out almost all the world’s population. After all having visions, the survivours congregate into two groups, one led by sweet old lady Mother Abigail and the other led by anarchist Randell Flagg. The story is basically good versus evil, God versus the Devil with Flagg being the Devil personified.

Although not too much of a surprise that Wolff has been cast, it is interesting to work out who he might play. The majority of the cast in the original were all in their late twenties/early thirties at best. Does Wolff inclusion point to a younger cast this time around?

Nat Wolff will soon be on our cinema screens in Josh Boone’s THE FAULT IN OUR STARS.
