‘The Flash’ And ‘Constantine’ Receive Full Series Orders

The Flash and Constantine

On the big screen Marvel may be having their day in the sun (for now), but on the small screen it’s definitely a good time to be a DC fan. With the CW’s extremely successful Arrow already set for a third season this autumn, and Fox’s Gotham receiving a full series order, we now have news of more DC shows heading to television!

The CW has revealed that in addition to the already announced renewals of Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Reign and Supernatural, the network will also move forward with Beauty and the Beast, Hart of Dixie and The 100. On top of that the CW has (thankfully) also given the green-light to four of their new pilots, which are The Flash, iZombie, Jane the Virgin and The Messengers. This is fantastic news for both television and Comic fans, that will undoubtedly help fill the void left by DC on the big screen until BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is released in 2016.

Unfortunately however, the CW has cancelled Star-Crossed, The Carrie Diaries and The Tomorrow People, as well as officially pulling the plug on their planned Supernatural spin-off series, which is a great shame. In other news NBC has given the go-ahead to yet another DC Comics-based series in the form of Constantine, starring newcomer Matt Ryan. The series may sound familiar to the uninitiated, due to the fact that a film based on the character hit theatres in 2005 starring Keanu Reeves. So in total there will be five DC Comics-based television shows on the air this autumn for us geeks to sink our teeth into. Not only will we have phenomenal Arrow returning to our screens, but we will also have The Flash, iZombie, Gotham and Constantine, and I for one can not wait!

What do you think to this news? are you sad about any cancelations? or just happy that we have so many superhero shows on the way?
