BRILLIANCE is one those films that, due to its title, had better be good. Legendary Pictures are adapting the David Koepp script in which special-powered humans, known as “brilliants”, end up in a civil war against humans. Sounds very much along the lines of X-MEN, but also sounds like an espionage thriller too. Will Smith will play a “brilliant” federal agent tracking down “brilliant” terrorists, one of whom may or may not be Noomi Rapace’s pierced and tattooed “brilliant”.
Although it sounds as though these are just early talks, it wouldn’t be the first time that Rapace has been all pierced and tattooed, after making her name in the original (and superior) THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. BRILLIANCE is to be directed by Julius Onah a veteran of short films from over the last decade as well as the feature-length THE GIRL IS IN TROUBLE. BRILLIANCE is currently in pre-production and sounds like it could be a winner, mixing the chase thrillers of yesteryear with the superpowers of today.
