Benedict Cumberbatch In ‘The Imitation Game’ Gets UK Release Date

It has been confirmed that the long awaited Alan Turing biopic will get a UK release on the 14th November, a whole week before the US release.

The eagerly awaited film starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the World War II cryptographer has been highly tipped as a contender for 2015’s Academy Awards. It’s based on the tragic life of Alan Turing who cracked the German Enigma code during World War II, only to be vilified for his sexuality.

THE IMITATION GAME also stars Keira Knightley as Turing’s friend and one time fiancee Joan Clarke.  The film was under scrutiny recently for fears that Knightley’s inclusion and beautiful looks would downplay Turing’s homosexuality.  However the film’s producers were quick to quash any worries about romanticising the pair;

This on-going dialogue is greatly appreciated as it demonstrates the passion that exists for Turing’s achievements and the legacy of a man we intend to honour. There is not – and never has been – a version of our script where Alan Turing is anything other than homosexual, nor have we included fictitious sex scenes, and we have responded to any and every email and Twitter message to the contrary so as to quash these unsubstantiated rumours. We only wish this misinformation hadn’t arisen, and in the spirit of openness we intend to communicate all production updates regularly through our social media channels.

The film boasts an impressive British cast with Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Rory Kinnear and Charles Dance to name just a few.  More news as we get it for THE IMITATION GAME.
