Zac Efron is an incredibly talented star who has been on the rise for years after he departed from his Disney roots with HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3 in 2009. Previous rumours reported that Efron had been cast in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming STAR WARS EPISODE VII, however we now know that those were false after the films cast was officially announced at the beginning of May.
Nowa new report is claiming that the star is in consideration for an upcoming Marvel Studios project, and has even been sent a script for the mystery superhero film (television series?). After Efron’s amazing performance in BAD NEIGHBOURS opposite the hilarious Seth Rogen, it’s no wonder that his talent’s are finally being recognised and potentially sought after for a high profile Hollywood blockbuster. ‘Zac Efron is being looked at for unspecified role in an upcoming Marvel Studios project. He was given a script for the project just recently and currently no one knows which part is actually in play. The only one that knows that answer is his manager and he will not comment on it’.
If Efron has indeed been sent a script for an upcoming Marvel Studios project, then the options are limited as to what that project may be. After all Marvel Studios may have many films in development, but few of them are at the casting stage. Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is already filming in London, Edgar Wright’s ANT-MAN has already set its principal cast, and the third CAPTAIN AMERICA film doesn’t yet have a completed script. This leads me (and many others) to believe that this project could be one of Marvel’s upcoming Netflix television series’ which will be released next year. The time needed to film a thirteen part series is far less restrictive than a network television show, and as a result may attract someone of Efron’s calibre. With Drew Godard’s Daredevil filming in New York this summer, casting is said to have begun and Efron would be a great choice for the man without fear…
