There is no doubt that one of the top TV highlights of the year was seeing Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson duke it out in the superb True Detective. While we eagerly await the announcement of season two, we can reveal that creator Nic Pizzolatto’s novel Galveston is currently being sold over in Cannes with plans to bring it to the screen in the very near future.

Janus Metz is going to direct the film, while Matthias Schoenaerts (BULLHEAD, pictured above) will star. It is set to start shooting in October of this year.

Tyler Davidson from Low Spark Films, the company behind films like THE KINGS OF SUMMER and TAKE SHELTER, will produce together with Jean Doumanian and Patrick Daly of Jean Doumanian Productions.

“Galveston is one of the most soulful and electrifying scripts I’ve read in years, and I couldn’t be more excited to join Jean and Patrick in realizing Nic Pizzolatto’s singular vision on the big screen,” said Davidson. “With the formidable talents of director Janus Metz and the extraordinary Matthias Schoenaerts, the pieces are in place, and we’re ready to go.”

The story revolves around a New Orleans hitman, who in addition to being diagnosed with cancer, has a mob boss who wants to have him killed, so reports CelebrityToob.
