Channing Tatum Is ‘Dying’ To Do Gambit Role

So if you’ve already seen the mixed bag that was X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, then you’ll probably be awaiting the next installment after the excellent post-credit tease. That tease was for the upcoming X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, which is already generating a lot of hype due to the (almost) inclusion of Channing Tatum as fan favourite Gambit. Gambit was already portrayed in the bloomin’ awful X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE where the part was played by Taylor Kitsch. Although Kitsch wasn’t terrible in the role (though he wasn’t great either), the character was just forced into the plot without a real reason. But then again, that entire script existed without reason.

While promoting FOXCATCHER at the Cannes Film Festival, Tatum has spoken about taking on the role while chatting to The Hollywood Reporter. He reinforces the fact that nothing is set in stone but talks are very nearly reaching a conclusion, with Tatum finishing with:

I’m dying to do it!

Fingers crossed on this one as Tatum certainly has the charisma for such a role. Meanwhile, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is looking to be the biggest film of the year if the initial estimates are anything to go by. I liked it quite a bit, but it was definitely rough around the edges as it desperately tried to link universes and timelines which resulted in prominent characters having nothing to do, as well as some choppily edited action sequences towards the end.
