If you’re one of the many who enjoyed 2002’s hugely successful MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, then you’re in luck – there’s a sequel in the works.
Both written by and starring Nia Vardalos, the first film follows Greco-American Toula (Vardalos) and her relationship with US “WASP” Ian (John Corbett).
It looks like much of the original team in on board for the sequel. Vardalos will once again write and star in the movie, while Corbett is also reprising his role as the husband. Playtone, HBO and Gold Circle are all involved again too, as are a whole bevy of producers (Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzmanare, Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Norm Waitt and Steve Shareshian). However whether original director Joel Zwick returns remains to be seen.
All we know of the new script at the moment is it features a family secret and, of course, another Greek wedding. But bigger and fatter.

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
