Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of True Detective has revealed he’s aiming for three main leads for the second season of the highly acclaimed and quite brilliant series. Although this won’t put to rest the continual rumours, that come with the modern territory of having a successful piece of work out there, Pizzolatto has also thankfully pointed out that casting hasn’t even begun yet.
He also revealed where it’ll take place and his, quite literal, feelings on the characters that we’ll be eventually seeing. Here’s those views in his words:
“Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser-known venues of California and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did in season one. The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with each of them. We have the entire season broken out, and I have a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting in earnest within the coming month.”
I don’t really like to speculate on what to expect next, especially when we’re following up stunning performances from Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Cohle and Hart, respectively. In effect, there was more than those two leads who created the atmosphere and style of the entire series, so more at the front wouldn’t be unusual. I will be just happy to see what comes next and have a lot of faith in the Pizzolatto’s choices when it’s his source material.
True Detective – Series 1 – is out to buy in the UK from June 9th, more details here but also don’t forget to have a go at making one of those Rust Cohle beer-can-men by heading to our handy step-by-step guide here.
