Just when you thought you were safe from film remakes – another one comes along in the form of CLIFFHANGER, which originally starred Sylvester Stallone.
Studio Canal have announced that a CLIFFHANGER remake is on the way after hiring a guy called Joe Gazzam to re-write the script after impressing them with an idea for the film. The 1993 film starring Stallone is about a mountain climber who gets involved in a failed heist set in a plane flying through the Rocky Mountains. It was two years later that Jim Carrey would do a great parody of the opening scene in ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS, where he tries to save a raccoon while dangling upside down on a wire among the mountains.
It is an unusual choice for a remake compared to POINT BREAK which has a cult following but CLIFFHANGER is regarded as on of Stallone’s better films so it might be of some interest to fans. Right?!
