The recent news regarding Edgar Wright leaving the directorial helm of ANT-MAN saddened many, but the hunt for a replacement started soon after and we may be looking at the director of the next MCU solo-venture. Various sources have told The Wrap that Rawson Marshall Thurber is taking that role, and you’ll know his work in the form of WE’RE THE MILLERS and DODGEBALL: AN UNDERDOG STORY.
However, representatives of the project over at Marvel, as well as Thurber’s own representatives refused to comment. Perhaps they’re just biding their time to break the news so soon after Wright’s parting. Then again, perhaps Thurber isn’t their #1 choice.
Also in the mix is ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer, but considering elements in his personal life, like… Oh, you know, having a baby, he might be not be the best equipped currently to handle a project of such scale. He’s also being considered to direct GHOSTBUSTERS 3, so his plate might be full enough as it is.
ANCHORMAN’s Adam McKay has been rumored as a third contender, which makes sense when you consider his work-history with Paul Rudd. However, the amount of creative freedom he likes to have over his projects, he might not be the best bet, either.
But we want to know who you think would be a good replacement for Wright, if any. So comment below!
ANT-MAN is set for a July 17th release next year, and will also feature the likes of Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, and Matt Gerald.
