Writer and director of the brilliant WARRIOR and the fantastic PRIDE & GLORY, Gavin O’Connor, is all set to helm his next project, MASSACRE IN THE HIMALAYAS. O’Connor has just finished shooting JANE GOT A GUN, the troubled production that saw the film’s previous director, Lynne Ramsay, fail to show up on the first day of shooting, as well as more cast changes than an average day at A&E. MASSACRE IN THE HIMALAYAS is based on an article by Freddie Wilkinson, which detailed how a group of climbers were ambushed by terrorists in the titular mountains. Here’s the article from over at Men’s Journal.
O’Connor has proved himself a wonderful director with the ability to capture great emotion, and the fact he was willing to step into JANE GOT A GUN just 25 hours after the original director left, shows a man who loves a challenge. We’ll be looking forward to both this and JANE GOT A GUN which is due for release in February 2015.
