Although it didn’t take a huge amount of money at the British box-office, DIVERGENT was a big bread-winner over the States and showed Jennifer Lawrence led series THE HUNGER GAMES that it had some competition for the YA throne as DIVERGENT had three sequels green-lit.

Filming has already begun on INSURGENT in Atlanta, but cast members are still being scrambled together the newest addition being Naomi Watts. The character she’ll be tackling is that of Evelyn, the leader of ‘The Factionless’ a role which readers of the book will know has a little more depth to her than just role.

Given the backlash the Aussie actress received following her part in last year’s critically savaged DIANA, Watts is clearly hoping that her involvement in the franchise will have audiences forgetting all about her little blip.

Alongside Watts, Octavia Spencer has also recently joined the cast with Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Kate Winslet and Theo James all back to reprise their DIVERGENT parts. INSURGENT is released in cinemas 20th March 2015.

What backlash? Most people who have watched or commented on the dreadful “Diana” said correctly that she was the best thing in it. her performance was flawless, even if the film was awful. Naomi Watts is without a hint of doubt one of
the greatest actresses ever and having enjoyed “Divergent”,
I’m glad to hear that she will lend her respectable talent to the next
    three sequels of the film.

It’s laughable that the Divergent films are considered “competition for the YA throne”; it’s US box office in 11 weeks in release hasn’t even equalled what THG and Catching Fire both made in their opening weekends.
Divergent has been successful, but please, don’t pretend it’s competition for the
    Hunger Games series.
