Ratchet and Clank is one of Sony PlayStation’s most profitable franchises. It started its life all the way back on the PS2 and has gone on to spawn more than ten sequels/ spin-offs. For the non-game players and the Xbox elite out there Ratchet is a lombax, the last of his race. He has dreams of being a galactic hero and after an encounter with a tiny robot called Clank he finds himself on the way to living his life’s dream

This writer highly recommends giving at least one of the games a whirl as they are incredible fun to play. The game wasn’t just a straight forward platformer, with it having elements of almost every game genre going through the use of mini-levels and challenges within the main story arch. They are also crammed full of humour and innovative weaponry – one weapon, ‘The Suck Cannon’ allows you to ‘suck’ up smaller enemies, turning them into ammunition against bigger enemies. The combination of the humour and its cute leading characters lead to the decision to make a film.

The creators of the franchise Insomniac Games have been very hands on with the animated production so fans of the games can rest easy. The team took the opportunity at the E3 summit to give gamers a peak at a teaser for the film which is slated for release next week. We’ve managed to get hold of the teaser check it out below:

The teaser clearly points to a close correlation to the original game which makes this writer exceptionally happy, though I may be biased as my cat was named after the lead Ratchet. It also suggests a very GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY vibe, with Rocket facing some stiff competition for cutest (and furriest) gun-totting hero. Roll on 2015.
