Harrison Ford Sidelined For Eight Weeks Following ‘Star Wars’ Injury

Harrison Ford

When word came out that veteran actor Harrison Ford had been injured on the set of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, press reactions ranged from ‘FORD CRUSHED BY FALCON’ to ‘Well, he’s just stubbed his toe, hasn’t he?’ If the British tabloids were to be believed, it was anyone’s guess as to whether Ford would ever act again.

Taking a rather more sensible stance, Lucasfilm were quick to play down the injury after part of the set fell on Ford last week – thought to be the Millennium Falcon’s landing ramp – and the focus turned to whether the film would still make its December 2015 release date.

The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that J.J. Abrams’ sequel won’t face delays as a result of the injury, but Ford will be out for up to eight weeks with a broken ankle. Shooting will continue in the meantime, having kicked off last month in the UK and Abu Dhabi.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII also stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow. They join returning cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker.

It’s set for worldwide release on 18th December, 2015. Stay tuned for more updates on STAR WARS: EPISODE VII.
