Sometimes casting just makes so much sense you question why you never thought of it yourself. IRON MAN director Jon Favreau’s upcoming adaptation of THE JUNGLE BOOK seems to be on a casting quest of perfection at the moment having just added Ben Kingsley as the voice of wise and protective panther Bagheera. I can’t think of a better voice that can convey leadership and love with such gravitas.
Kingsley joins previously announced cast members Idris Elba as the villainous tiger Shere Khaan, Scarlett Johansson as the hypnotic snake Kaa, and Lupita Nyong’o as the maternal wolf Rakcha who takes in the human boy Mowgli.
Disney’s third adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s novel (not including sequels), will mix live action and CGI to create what we guess will be a stunning visual treat. However, they’ll be left without the motion-capture master Andy Serkis to bring the animals alive, as he is directing his own version of the classic tale for rival studio Warner Bros. But if Disney decide to throw in some of their classic tunes, I think we can guess who’ll come out as box-office champion.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
