Will Poulter Goes Wild With DiCaprio In Period Revenger ‘The Revenant’

Will Poulter

Rising star Will Poulter should ramp up his bankability as he prepares to join Leonardo DiCaprio in an adaptation of Michael Punke’s period novel THE REVENANT. This hard-edged and harrowing real life tale concerns a fur trader in the 1820s who is betrayed after a savage bear attack. Stranded in the Great American Wilderness with no tools or weapons, the trader naturally pursues payback. DiCaprio is a solid choice for central character Hugh Glass, though it’s unclear who Poulter will portray. The part of  Jim Bridger appears to fit the young actor, whose  encounter with Glass presumably informed the legendary path his life took to becoming “King Of The Mountain Men”. The movie’s tough credentials are cemented with the apparent involvement of Tom Hardy. Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (BABEL) will be heading out on the trail around Christmas, with Anonymous Content producing.

Poulter started out on Channel 4’s teeny weenies sketch show School Of Comedy before hitting the big screen in SON OF RAMBOW. Bigger roles soon beckoned and his performance in WE’RE THE MILLERS has led to meatier fare in forthcoming THE MAZE RUNNER. Interestingly his MILLERS co-star Jason Sudeikis is also shooting a story of revenge, so maybe the pair can swap notes.
