In wonderfully random TV casting news, Jennifer Love Hewitt is set to be a season regular in the upcoming season of CBS’ hit crime drama Criminal Minds.
Hewitt will be playing the role of Kate Callahan, a highly accomplished undercover agent whose stellar work at the FBI has landed her a coveted position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit. The news of her casting comes after the departure of Jeanne Tripplehorn’s character Alex Blake. Hewitt will join remaining cast members Matthew Gray Gubler, Shemar Moore, Kirsten Vangsness, Thomas Gibson, A.J. Cook and Joe Mantegna.
Criminal Minds show runner Erica Messer had this to say:
“We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast. Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season.”
Hewitt has a seasoned TV career, leading such programmes as Ghost Whisperer and Party Of Five. She recently starred in Lifetime’s The Client List, before the channel cancelled it after two seasons.
Criminal Minds season 10 is set to return in October.
