This time last year our interest was peaked for upcoming futuristic thriller2088, and you can check out that teaser trailer byclicking here. It’s been made by Steven Ilous, a man who’s worked on the visual effects for SMI Entertainment and been part of the team that gave us THE POLAR EXPRESS and THE MATRIX sequels.
That teaser showed us a part of the world he’s creating that was taken from the viewpoint of a Police Car-cam in a future where there is a Non-Human Crime Division, and you also get an insight into the non-humans that are committing crimes. These exclusive artwork visuals show us the hard work from some very talented souls on the visual development team for 2088. Ilous told THN that they’re ‘striving to make a film that not only feels unique, but lived in…‘ and also very interesting that they’ll continue to expand this created universe to eventually ‘include a TV series that explores the surrounding years.‘
Here’s your very first look into the imagery, which has noticeable influence from the likes of BLADE RUNNER but anything set ahead in time is probably unavoidable these days. Steven is also working on POLIS with New Regency and there’s more information on that below these shots:
If you like the look of this, then don’t forget to check out the teaser but also keep an eye out for POLIS, which is Ilous upcoming directorial effort. The differences between visual work and making a whole film are always interesting and he had this to say about his work on POLIS:
“Coming from a VFX background, I’m excited by the challenge and ingenuity needed to make a contained picture.”
We’ll be looking out for his future work for sure and it’s undoubtedly a world that’s continually expanding with infinite possibilities. Headover here and also herefor a look at POLIS and check out SMI-Ent right here: smi-ent.com
