‘Gone Girl’ Gets New Image And A Festival Opening Slot

David Fincher’s GONE GIRL has been top of our pick list for some time now and with each new bit of information released our excitement only intensifies. Last week was the brilliantly tense trailer and today it’s an image (below) showing Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne being interrogated by police. He’s suspected of having something to do with the disappearance of his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) and it looks like the intense media attention has finally gotten under his skin in the photo as Nick appears tense and scruffy.

Also announced today was the news that GONE GIRL will open the New York Film Festival this September. If the director, cast and trailer wasn’t evidence enough that this film is gunning for some serious trophies come awards season then the fact that it is opening one of the biggest film festivals of the year should make it pretty clear. What films have opened the NYFF in previous years? That would be CAPTAIN PHILLIPS in 2013, LIFE OF PI in 2012, THE SOCIAL NETWORK in 2010… as you can see opening the NYFF is a pretty big deal so it’s a strong indication of the quality of Fincher’s latest work. Bring on October!
