Intense Trailer Released For Sundance Favourite ‘Whiplash’

After winning the Audience Award and Grand Jury prize at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival it was clear that WHIPLASH is definitely one to take note of. Today we bring you the brand new trailer and, boy, does this look intense.

Directed by Damien Chazelle, WHIPLASH sees Miles Teller (THAT AWKWARD MOMENT) play Andrew Neyman, a good – but not great – jazz drummer, hired as part of hardass Terence Fletcher’s (J.K. Simmons) band. As Andrew starts to grow and progress as a musician, Terence pushes him further and further, teetering on the edge of motivation and abuse, sanity and insanity. Melissa Benoist (Glee) co-stars.

I’m used to seeing Simmons play the laid-back, funny guy, so to see him slap someone round the face was rather unnerving. I can only imagine the rest of the film follows along the same lines. With rave reviews submitted from Sundance this is definitely not one to miss.

WHIPLASH will receive a limited US release from 10th October 2014.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
