If there’s a British actor on the fast-track to huge success right now, then it looks like Jack O’Connell is undoubtedly the one to watch. After a stunning turn in STARRED UP, he leads Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut UNBROKEN and has now been announced as a lead in the Belfast-set thriller ’71 from Studiocanal.

Directed by Yann Demange, Jack O’Connell plays Gary Hook, a young British soldier accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the streets of Belfast. Unable to tell friend from foe, and increasingly wary of his own comrades, the raw recruit must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorientating, alien and deadly landscape.

O’Connell leads the superb cast that includes Sean Harris (DELIVER US FROM EVIL), Killian Scott (CALVARY, GOOD VIBRATIONS), Martin McCann (X PLUS Y) and Charlie Murphy (PHILOMENA). ’71 is the film feature directorial debut of Yann Demange and is based on a screenplay by acclaimed writer Gregory Burke (BLACK WATCH).

It received very positive feedback at the Berlin Film Festival and ’71 is set for release in the UK on October 10th, we’ll be keeping an eye out for this one!
