Kevin Smith’s latest seems to have taken John Lennon’s song a bit literally with his latest film TUSK. The film sees Justin Long as a podcaster given the job of travelling North America and interviewing interesting people. His latest interview leads him to Michael Park’s Walrus enthusiast who has a darker side than he’s letting on, to the extent where he wishes to turn Long into some form of walrus/human hybrid. Like a mixture of MISERY and THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE, this looks to be the kind of body horror that really gets under my skin and disturbs me. In other words, I can’t wait. With a supporting cast including THE SIXTH SENSE’s Haley Joel Osment as Long’s buddy and colleague searching for his missing friend and Genesis Rodriguez as Long’s girlfriend.
The trailer mixes great horror and great humour, mostly aimed at the US’s friends to the north, Canada. It’s certainly going to be an oddity, but one that will be equal parts disturbing and funny.
