Michael Keaton Goes Batsh*t In New ‘Birdman Or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance’ Trailer And Poster

After years of appearing in movies that were reasonable but didn’t capitalise on his immense talents, Michael Keaton looks to be making a triumphant return to leading man status in BIRDMAN OR THE UNEXPECTED VIRTUE OF IGNORANCE.

Opening the Venice Film Festival, this twisted tale of a former superhero actor-turned-Broadway producer is directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu (BABEL) and features Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton and the brilliant Andrea Riseborough.

Here’s the poster, that sees things looking up for Keaton, but perhaps not in the way he expected…

And if that’s not enough to pique your interest, a new trailer has been released, showcasing the former Batman losing his spandex-clad marbles in an atmosphere reminiscent of Terry Gilliam’s BRAZIL…

Though Iñárritu can’t quite resist a pretentious subtitle (THE UNEXPECTED VIRTUE OF IGNORANCE), this is likely to be a feature with wings and a much better use of Keaton’s time than ROBOCOP or NEED FOR SPEED. BIRDMAN can be judged when it lands in cinemas next year.

Steve is a journalist and comedian who enjoys American movies of the 70s, Amicus horror compendiums, Doctor Who, Twin Peaks, Naomi Watts and sitting down. His short fiction has been published as part of the Iris Wildthyme range from Obverse Books.
