If there’s one thing that Tommy Lee Jones does with sheer consistency, it’s be brilliant in every piece of work he takes on. I don’t feel I’m overvaluing his contribution to modern cinema as the sometimes underrated actor turns up in some of the best roles of recent times. This directorial and acting effort looks set to continue that trend, as he takes on THE HOMESMAN.
As you’ll see in the trailer, he looks like he’s trying take his own life and in exchange for saving George Briggs (Tommy Lee Jones), the forthright, independent woman Mary Bee Cuddy (Hilary Swank) then recruits him to assist her escort three troubled women across the country. It’s all set in American’s West in the 1850s, THE HOMESMAN is directed by Tommy Lee Jones and also stars Hilary Swank, John Lithgow, Hailee Steinfeld, William Fichtner, James Spader and Meryl Streep.
