It came as a big surprise when Vin Diesel was announced as the actor to take on the walking tree known as Groot in the recent incredible smash GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Although Diesel was no stranger to voice work after his brilliant turn as THE IRON GIANT, the fact that such a high-profile actor would take on voice work where he only says three words, “I am Groot,” had people questioning whether there was more in store for Diesel. It wouldn’t be the first time, as Paul Bettany recently graduated from providing the vocal work for Tony Stark’s AI butler JARVIS in the IRON MAN trilogy and THE AVENGERS, to a more physical role as The Vision in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.
Now it seems the ever hint heavy Diesel may have given us a clue as to a future possible role. That role would be in THE INHUMANS, a group of misfits created by the Kree, one of the alien races featured prominently in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Diesel recently Facebooked the following:
He’s obviously capitalised ‘Inhuman’ and being a fan of Marvel comics we’d wager this was no accident. Diesel certainly matches The Inhumans leader, Black Bolt, in terms of stature. Time will tell, but after his brilliant performance in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, we’re all for more Groot and more Diesel.
