Sigourney Weaver Doesn’t Want To Be An ‘Expendabelle’

Easily one, if not the most iconic action heroine to grace the silver screen (sorry, Linda), it seems that Sigourney Weaver isn’t in a hurry to return to her action roots. When the first THE EXPENDABLES film was announced people weren’t overly thrilled with the idea however once they saw how much fun the film was they soon changed their minds. The success led to two sequels and whilst the most recent film struggled at the box office (probably not helped by the family friendly 12A rating) it was still lovely to see all the big action heroes share screen time.

An all-female spin-off was announced a long time ago and is slowly heading for production next year the project has lost one of its most wanted actresses. Sigourney Weaver found herself the figurehead icon for the strong action heroine after James Cameron got his hands on her character Ellen Ripley for ALIEN sequel ALIENS. Whilst she may not have made too many action movies since her Oscar nominated performance cemented her into our hearts. Since then we’ve had a steady string of dominant women in the action arena most notably Linda Hamilton, Katee Sackhoff, Milla Jovovich and Uma Thurman.

Speaking about the project recently Stallone who is credited with bringing the franchise to life was very vocal about getting the first lady on-board. Unfortunately for Sly though Weaver has politely declined the project which puts the project is a mild amount of jeopardy given her iconic status. With the announcement of her pregnancy recently it would also seem like Jovovich is also out of the running which takes THN’s dream team down to very few.
