International Trailer Released For Intense Sundance Favourite ‘Whiplash’

Back at the end of July we brought you the first official trailer for the Sundance winner WHIPLASH, directed by Damien Chazelle. Today, over a month later, we bring you the first international trailer for the intense drama – but be warned, it’s definitely NSFW.

Miles Teller (THAT AWKWARD MOMENT) stars as Andrew Neyman, a good – but not great – jazz drummer, hired as part of hardass Terence Fletcher’s (J.K. Simmons) band. As Andrew starts to grow and progress as a musician, Terence pushes him further and further, teetering on the edge of motivation and abuse, sanity and insanity. Melissa Benoist (Glee) co-stars.

The film won the Grand Jury and Audience Award prizes at Sundance 2014, cementing it as one of this year’s must-see films. While the original trailer gave a glimpse into Simmons’ dark side, this new one goes even deeper. I definitely wouldn’t want to piss him off, that’s for sure.

WHIPLASH will receive a limited US release from 10th October 2014.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
