Vince Vaughn Set For Seth Rogen-Produced Comedy ‘The Politician’

Vince Vaughn

Vince Vaughn, the man who has great moments and more strange moments in comedy – quite consistently – is being lined up for new Columbia Pictures comedy THE POLITICIAN.

He’s had an up and down few years but I’ve never found him to be overtly annoying, just more disappointing with some choices of movie. Saying that, I quite liked him in THE INTERNSHIP recently with Owen Wilson and their chemistry remains impressive but then there’s also the likes of DELIVERY MAN (a pointless remake) and THE WATCH – to note just a couple of throwaway comedies.

This new one, however, already sounds a little more positive with Michael Dowse (WHAT IF) just signing onto direct and it coming from 2013’s Black List for highly sought-after scripts. Written by Matthew Bass and Theodore Bressman, THE POLITICIAN follows the life of one in Washington, D.C., who’s caught up in a sex scandal. This doesn’t exactly sound unusual for the modern age movie and the man and his underachieving friend go on the run from the FBI, U.S. Marshals and a gang of drug dealers. Your classic run-trip-crime-caper then!

As mentioned in the title, Seth Rogen is on the production team alongside his usual crew of Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. With Vaughn being rumoured for the second season of True Detective and crime drama TERM LIFE just completed, could this be the start of the recovery road for him?
