From Brian Fantana to Crap Bag (aka Mike), Paul Rudd has played some brilliant characters on both the big and small screen. The ANCHORMAN star comes to cinema and video on-demand once again this Friday, September 5th in the romantic comedy THEY CAME TOGETHER, and to celebrate the release we take a look at some of his best comedic roles.
WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER (2001)
Paul Rudd played the character of Andy in the comedy directed by David Wain about an 80’s American summer camp. It’s the last day of camp so the staff and campers are all determined to resolve their unfinished business. The cast included Bradley Cooper, Molly Shannon and even THEY CAME TOGETHER co-star Amy Poehler.
FRIENDS (2002-2004)
In the iconic comedy series Friends, Paul Rudd played the character of Mike Hannigan who appeared in a total of 19 episodes. After falling for the quirky Phoebe, the pair eventually get married in a beautiful snow-filled New York.
ROLE MODELS (2008)
ROLE MODELS tells the story of two energy drink reps (Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott) who are forced in to becoming ‘big brothers’ as part of their community service. There are lots of laughs as the pair attempt to be actual role models for their younger counter-parts.
ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY (2004)
Paul Rudd played one quarter of the KVWN news team, Brian Fantana, a sex-obsessed field reporter. The film, set in the 70s, revolves around the lives of the news team as they battle for the number 1 news spot. Everyone knows that Fantana’s favourite aftershave is Sex Panther after all “they’ve done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.”
THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN (2005)
Again appearing along-side Steve Carell, Paul Rudd’s character David helps his co-worker to lose his virginity, whilst attempting to get over his own heartbreak. Another star-filled cast including Catherine Keener, Leslie Mann, Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen.
THEY CAME TOGETHER (2014)
Starring Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, THEY CAME TOGETHER is an irreverent subversion of the romantic comedy genre. From the director of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER and ROLE MODELS, David Wain, this smart and fresh comedy takes on every romantic comedy cliché in the book and features laugh-out-loud performances from two of comedy’s leading lights.
