Fans of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series American Horror Story might be pleased (or displeased?) to discover that the latest series Freak Show will be breaking a cardinal AHS rule and will see one character making a reappearance, and that character will be Pepper from Asylum!
After a leaked call sheet with Naomi Grossman’s name sent AHS fans in a frenzy back in July, creator Murphy has now revealed that she will indeed be reprising her role as the loveable maniac we watched in Asylum. But another interesting bit about Pepper’s return is the fact that Freak Show is set in 1952, and Asylum was set in 1964, so we will see Pepper’s origins! But how will she come into the story? By being a member of the travelling show led by Jessica Lange’s character Elsa Mars:
“What Elsa has done for 20 years is she goes around to hospitals and jails and rescues these ‘freak’ circus performers who are going to be shipped away to asylums and she signs the waivers and she becomes their guardians.”
American Horror Story: Freak Show follows one of the few remaining travelling freak shows in 1950s America. The series will star Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy and Sarah Paulson. It is set to return in the US October 6th.
