We may not know yet who will be playing the mysterious Marvel superhero yet, and for the past month or so, rumors have spread over the internet that Joaquin Phoenix or Jack Huston have been tipped for the role. While this may irritate the dedicated Marvel fans, put those rumors aside for a moment, we have an actual month and year that DOCTOR STRANGE will be released – July 2016!
Set to be directed by SINISTER’s Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange was a character created by Stan Lee, that started off as a surgeon in New York City, but is later involved in a car crash that makes him lose his professional skills. In desperation to gain back his self worth, he pays a visit to a healer known as The Ancient One, living in the Himalayas. During his time with The Ancient One he learns to tap in to his psychic powers and mystical arts to defeat evil.
Other great news about this production is that it will be filmed at UK’s Pinewood Studios, where GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY was made. As for when the footage for DOCTOR STRANGE will take place has not yet been revealed, but it will likely be later on in the year. Watch this space!
