It was inevitable that a movie was going to get made detailing the leaked NSA documents by Edward Snowden, and Oliver Stone will be the one to make it in the form of THE SNOWDEN FILES. The planned project is said to be based around the novel ‘Time Of The Octopus’ by Snowden’s Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, and according to Deadline this morning, Stone and producing partner Moritz Borman are looking to secure the huge talents of Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play the lead.

Deadline reports that the film focusses on the ‘story of an American whistle blower who heads to Russia and the back and forth between the leaker and his lawyer as he waits while that country considers his request for asylum.’ The blog says that the duo have also bought the rights to ‘The Snowden Files: The Inside Story Of The World’s Most Wanted Man’, by Guardian journalist Luke Harding, so we may see some of that included in the proposed film.

Shooting is set to kick off on THE SNOWDEN FILES in Munich, Germany in December.
