It is not uncommon for a hit US television series to lose its main star somewhere down the line. In fact, history is riddled with examples of sad occasions where a show has had to continue on without one of its main attractions. George Clooney stopped saving lives for ER, David Duchovny gave up on extra-terrestrial investigation for The X-Files and Steve Carell resigned from the American Office. However, although those shows each carried on to enjoy similar levels of success, few would argue that Charlie Sheen’s departure from Two and a Half Men left the series with a permanent void.
In 2011, Sheen left the hit CBS comedy series after a heavily publicised row with its creator and head writer Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory). As you are probably aware, Two and a Half Men continued on with Ashton Kutcher replacing Sheen in the lead role opposite Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones. However, although Lorre and his team have attempted to keep the show fresh and original, Two and a Half Men was never quite the same. Despite this drastic cast alteration, the series has survived and continued running for a further three seasons (with a fourth and final on the way) largely due to the fantastic comic timing of the severely underrated Jon Cryer. With the overall twelfth and final season of Two and a Half Men commencing this October, many are hoping that its original star will make a special return to send off the landmark sitcom.
Now it’s looking like those hopeful fans may have their wish granted if Charlie Sheen gets his way, as the controversial star is eager to return to his old stomping ground one last time. Sheen has reportedly pursued the producers of Two and a Half Men and his return is said be within the realms of possibility. You can check out what the Anger Management star had to say on the matter below:
‘I’ve reached out to them and they’ve reached back. We’re trying to figure out what makes the most sense. If they figure it out like I’ve presented it to them and they want to include me in some final send-off, I’m available and I’m showing up early. If not, it’s on them’.
It would be a fantastic way to reward loyal fans of the series by bringing Sheen back for one final send off, with a (hopefully) hilarious meeting between his and Kutcher’s characters. Either way, it’s great to see that Sheen is willing to make amends with his former boss in the spirit of making Two and a Half Men’s final season the best it can possibly be. Of course, his character was killed in the series so it would take some clever writing from Lorre and his team to rectify that decision, however no body was seen so anything is possible in the world of television.

Charlie is the show! The show is kinda boring without him. Ashton is better looking, but not as funny as Charlie. Please give Charlie another chance to do the show. It would be a nice way to revive the show or end it if u must.

Have the two and a half men producer lost their minds are they high on drugs. Guys for God sake, charlie sheen was the guy that got me watching he was the funniest guy on the show. Then he was taken off just because of a little outburst and not just taken off he was killed off the show, they haven’t even given him a chance to return there are ideas that I have for the producers that they need to listen to it was unfair how you killed off charlie but you can fix it all you need to do is say rose held him hostage or locked him up somewhere to die and he never did or she put some sort of spell on him or made him sign a non leave clause which meant he was trapped in a specific country. Come on guys he was the reason I watched the show in the first place he made the show and got the ratings. So they should make the rational choice and include him in the final season or otherwise I know for certain that the show has lost my viewership and interest.

Charlie Sheen and Angus T. Jones were the reason I watched the show. Needless to say, it’s their absence why I’ve stopped watching the show.

I’m amazed they were able to do the 3 craps seasons they did without Sheen he IS the show. Then they though him off for being exactly the type of person they knew him to be. Stars can be assholes that is nothing new. If they want to make the show have the best possible ending give the fans what they want. Charlie Sheen! It’s tv they can find any number of reasons to write him in even if it makes little seance people will overlook a plot hole in a sitcom to have Sheen return I personally have only seen a hand full of the episode’s without him and saw no reason to keep watching and will not even bother with the final season if he isn’t in it and I know I am not alone
