Bill Murray To Star In Christmas TV Special From Sofia Coppola

Bill Murray

If you’re in the US it may seem your festive viewing is already going to be bizarre enough. I mean, Christopher Walken is playing an all-singing, all-dancing Captain Hook. That’s enough craziness for one season, right? Wrong. Because Bill Murray has revealed he is to collaborate once more with director Sofia Coppola. But not on a big screen project – the idea is for a Christmas TV Special that will potentially see the star belting out carols. Murray attempted to elucidate:

It’s not going to be live… We’re going to do it like a little movie. It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose… It will have a patina style and wit to it. It will be nice.

Thanks Bill, that clears that up. Coppola herself has voiced a desire to see her LOST IN TRANSLATION lead roast his chestnuts on an open fire in a possible medley of classic tunes. Whether this is an elaborate gag between the pair, or if the concept that puts a whole new spin on the word “intriguing” turns out to be true, it’ll be another diverse path the veteran actor’s career will have taken. Ho ho, and indeed, ho.
