Chris O’Dowd’s ‘Moone Boy’ Headed For ABC

Moone Boy Chris O'Dowd

Following a successful run on Sky, Chris O’Dowd’s imaginary friend sitcom Moone Boy is to try and land on the surface of network TV. A commitment from ABC for a put pilot will likely see a series emerge – the actor writes and co-stars in the Irish version, which documents the 1980s exploits of young Martin Moone (David Rawle) and a guy in a woolly hat (O’Dowd) that only he can see. The Emmy award-winning show, about to enter its third series, is based on O’Dowd’s childhood experiences and co-authored with Nick Vincent Murphy.

O’Dowd is on script duties for the ABC gig but apparently won’t appear onscreen. He executive produces alongside 3 Arts, Sprout Pictures Ltd, Baby Cow Productions and Hot Cod Productions Ltd (lots of food groups represented in that line up). Next up for the likeable star is ST VINCENT opposite Bill Murray and Naomi Watts.
