Robert De Niro is looking to reunite with director David O’Russell and star Jennifer Lawrence on new film JOY. The threesome, who all linked up for the 2012 Oscar-winner SILVER LINING PLAYBOOK, will potentially start work on the project iin February. De Niro is in final talks.
The film revolves around Lawrence’s character Joy, a single mother who, beginning with the Miracle Mop in 1990, became world famous selling her inventions on the Home Shopping Network. De Niro would play her father in the film.
O’Russell is currently rewriting Annie Mumolo’s (BRIDESMAIDS) script.
JOY will be the third movie that Lawrence and De Niro have teamed with O’Russell on, following ‘Silber Linings’ and last year’s AMERICAN HUSTLE.
Lawrence will next be seen in the third film in the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1, which releases next week (read our review here).
