Javier Bardem’s turn as a Bond villain in SKYFALL was icier than a naked Twister party in an igloo. How do you follow that performance? By casting diminutive screen psychopath Christoph Waltz of course, if recent reports are anything to go by. Variety have acquired this story from the Twitter feed of Daily Mail foghorner Baz Bamigboye, so while we can take it with a mini-avalanche of salt, we can at least comment on it as a plausible decision. Waltz fits the Daniel Craig era formula of recent years of casting a sinister European as adversary. If you haven’t seen him before, I’d describe him as a sort of sinister cousin of Jools Holland. I doubt anyone would object if his involvement was confirmed.
Bamigboye has also Tweeted the locations for BOND 24 as Mexico, Morocco, Austria, Italy and London, so as ever Eon Productions will be racking up the air miles in the latest instalment for the roughhouse superspy. The producers haven’t lent any credence to the journalist’s findings, so here’s what we do know: Sam Mendes is returning as director alongside writers John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear are back as M, Moneypenny, Q and Bill Tanner respectively. And the film will be released in Oct/Nov next year. All other information is classified.
