One of film’s unsung heroes is usually its score. Very often you’ll hear the expression – ‘if you don’t notice it’s there at all, then you’ve got yourself a great score.’ Or something like that. This year, there’s been a bundle of outstanding scores in film, and as we move closer to awards season, the studios are starting to push their very best under the noses of voters.
Paramount Pictures are first to the fold this year to promote their work, notably scores from nine of their 2014 releases, which are NOAH, TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, HERCULES, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, MEAN WOMEN & CHILDREN, INTERSTELLAR, TOP FIVE, THE GAMBLER and SELMA. The studio has made all of those soundtracks available online over at this website, for Academy voters and the like to have an audible sniff at. Interestingly, they’re pushing TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION in all categories, including ‘Best Picture Of The Year.’ Let’s see how that works out. Then again, take a look at the following fan-made trailer for film, without a Transformer in sight. Award winner? I want to see this movie either way.
Click the link above and navigate your way to each film score that Paramount are pushing, and keep it THN on Twitter as we move to Christmas and into peak awards season for total coverage of all of the big awards shows.
