The National Board of Review has named A MOST VIOLENT YEAR the 2014 Best Film of the Year. The drama also picked up Best Actor and supporting actress gongs for stars Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, though Isaac had to settle with sharing the award with Michael Keaton’s acclaimed turn in the forthcoming BIRDMAN. Julianne Moore picked up Best Actress for STILL ALICE, while Edward Norton won Best Supporting Actor, also for BIRDMAN.
The Brits also did well with Jack O’Connell the stand-out with Breakthrough Performance for his roles in UNBROKEN and the quite brilliant STARRED UP.
Clint Eastwood was awarded Best Director for the upcoming Bradley Cooper starrer AMERICAN SNIPER.

Best Directorial Debut: Gillian Robespierre – Obvious Child
Best Foreign Language Film: Wild Tales
Best Documentary: Life Itself
William K. Everson Film History Award: Scott Eyman
Best Ensemble: Fury
Spotlight Award: Chris Rock for writing, directing, and starring in – Top Five
NBR Freedom of Expression Award: Rosewater
NBR Freedom of Expression Award: Selma
