Breaking Bad Guys: Krysten Ritter Is Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’

Underrated comedic actress Krysten Ritter has reportedly landed the lead in Netflix’s Jessica Jones, an adaptation of the Marvel comic. Following the exploits of a former superheroine-turned-detective, the 13 part series could really make it big for the former star of Breaking Bad and Don’t Trust The B*** In Apartment 23. It’s part of the ever-conquering brand’s televisual drive to create an interlocking network of characters that tie into the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe. Printed powerhouse Luke Cage (Mike Colter) has proved crucial to the process, with Ritter auditioning opposite him in anticipation of the upcoming Defenders miniseries. That will see Jones fighting alongside fellow heroes Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist, each of whom are getting their own show (with Charlie Cox’s DD first off the block).

Ritter has appeared in a succession of high profile projects but this role should hopefully propel her into the A List. Marvel have a knack for selecting strong actors who are maybe lesser known and the source material looks like a good match. She’s currently appearing on the big screen in Tim Burton’s BIG EYES.
