One of the world’s all-conquering comic brands has a raft of entertainment headed for the small screen and it’s about time they started unwrapping the goods. So with Christmas imminent, now is a good time to yank the bow on a payload of shots from two anticipated offerings – Daredevil starring Charlie Cox, and Agent Carter with Hayley Atwell. The DD package sees Cox’s heroic alter ego Matt Murdock as he walks amongst an unsuspecting public…
As well as another shot of him in the black costume, disappointingly reminiscent of the “sock on his head” approach of 1989’s TheTrial Of The Incredible Hulk…
The good news sartorially is that the definitive red outfit will be donned. Co-starring Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk (aka The Kingpin), the show is released on Netflix via ABC next year.
Over to Atwell, and her CAPTAIN AMERICA spin-off. While it’s great to see Marvel making female-led drama I can’t say I was that excited about this one. Agent Carter wasn’t a character that cried out for more background in my opinion, but looking at the details of the meaty two hour premiere I have to say I’ve turned on a sixpence. Unlike the meagre glimpse of treats to come from “The Man Without Fear”, this is a bumper parcel of twenty nine images. You can see them all here but below is a selection of the approaching juiciness as Peggy Carter asserts her independence in a deadly post-war landscape…
Just as Daredevil cast Cox in its title role, so the tale of stars ‘n stripes and spraying bullets features many Brits in key parts. Aside from Atwell, Dominic Cooper reprises playboy mastermind Howard Stark, who Carter must rescue from a dastardly frame-up…
Completing the UK contingent, James D’Arcy plays actioneer butler Edwin Jarvis and James Frain (Intruders) sports a name ahead of its time as Leet Brannis. Meanwhile another James (Hebert) waits in the wings as the mysterious “Green Suit”…
Chad Michael Murray turns on the charm as Jack Thompson, a Strategic Scientific Reserve agent, and Carter’s colleague…
Carter goes all Veronica Lake on an undercover assignment…
… and is promptly approached by Tim True’s sozzled boob.
Finally, doing a fine job with the classic thriller move of “lurking in doorway” is Andre Royo as Spider Raymond…
Boardwalk Empire‘s Shea Whigham rounds off the cast as head honcho Roger Dooley. The pilot airs on ABC January 6th.
