Channeling the uber-cool essence of Steven Soderbergh’s stylistics, this second huge trailer for FOCUS, bought to us by the CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE team of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, shows us a lot in quick succession but still leaves enough for us to ponder over.
The casting of Margot Robbie after her stunning performance in THE WOLF OF WALL STREET is inspired and we also get to see Smith continue to carve out those more suave roles, with additional deeper tones. Here, he stars as Nicky, a seasoned master of misdirection who gets romantically involved with Margot Robbie’s character, novice con-artist Jess Barrett. As he’s teaching her the tricks of the trade, things get too close for comfort and he breaks it off. Three years later, they meet up again…
