Gosling’s ‘Lost River’ No Longer Lost As Warner Bros Announce Cinema Release

Though initially reported as heading straight to VOD, Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut LOST RIVER is getting a shout on the big screen, albeit with a limited run. Warner Bros intend to release the critically-mauled movie in the second quarter of 2015 in New York and Los Angeles. The story of a single mother (Christina Hendricks) who journeys into a fantasy world contrasting strongly with the urban decay her son faces was booed at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year – though in fairness it isn’t Cannes if they don’t boo at something. The project looked to have a touch of the David Lynches about it, including random imagery such as a bicycle on fire and a freaky nebulous face (pictured above).

Not even the sight of former Doctor Who Matt Smith doing a Titanic with his chest out was enough to garner more positive commentary, though the film did have its supporters. The eclectic cast also features Saoirse Ronan and Eva Mendes. At least now audiences are able to judge for themselves whether the knives were out for Gosling or if LOST RIVER truly had no means of flotation.
