MEN IN BLACK director Barry Sonnenfeld returns with his upcoming comedy NINE LIVES, in which a businessman gets trapped in the body of a cat. Hardly the most original idea, but with body swap comedies always following a similar path, at least this one has a cat and not just two complete opposites, in terms of personality, switching roles.
It also helps that 2 time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey is taking on the lead. It seems like a bit of a light hearted role, which is probably what Spacey needs after his run on House Of Cards, a show that saw him bag a Golden Globe. More interestingly is wondering if his human body will have to act like a cat, because we’d just love to see Spacey entranced by laser dots and batting about balls of string.
Scripted by Daniel Antoniazzi and Ben Shiffrin, this won’t be the only bizarre film Spacey is undertaking, as he also voices a role in Dreamworks’ BOSS BABY, although the title role is with Baldwin in that feature. Spacey has proven himself worthy of comedy roles, ever since one of his earliest appearances in SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL. We hope for many a laugh with this, assumed, family comedy.
