It has been a long time since NBC’s Heroes became a worldwide sensation in the mid-noughties, which unfortunately makes young nerds now in their early twenties a little old. The superhero drama began in 2006 and received a huge amount of critical praise but the show soon began to lose its way following the infamous writers strike of 2008, leading to a downwards spiral from which it never recovered.
Fortunately though, time has been kind to Heroes and audiences have started to remember the series for what it once was, rather than what became of it. So, when it was announced last summer that the predecessor to televisions current superhero craze was returning to screens, the news was met with a warm combination of nostalgia and intrigue. At the moment little is known about the sequel mini-series, other than the fact that it will air this year. While many previous cast members have expressed their (unfortunate) reluctance to return to show, it has been revealed that the fan-favourite Jack Coleman will reprise his role as Noah Bennet. Coleman will star alongside newcomer and fellow fan-favourite actor, Zachary Levi.
These are definitely nice casting announcements, that have just about kept curious fans happy, despite the fact that we are still no closer to discovering when the project will air. Thankfully, NBC have finally released the first footage from Heroes Reborn in this wonderfully tantalising teaser titled ‘The Aurora’. So feast your eyes fellow Heroes fans, on what will hopefully be a triumphant return for a once great series:
Check back with THN for more updates on Heroes Reborn regarding its release date and cast in the coming months. With this teaser currently causing more buzz than the Super Bowl itself, further information should be released by NBC shortly.
