It has just been revealed that the season 5 world premiere of Game Of Thrones will take place at the historic Tower Of London on the banks of London’s River Thames on the 18th March.

The occasion marks the first time the world premiere of the latest GOT season has taken place in Europe.

Full details below.

Ahead of the highly anticipated return of the world’s most talked about show, Sky Atlantic today announces that the World Premiere of Game of Thrones will be held in London for the first time. The star-studded red carpet event will take place at one of Britain’s most recognisable and historic locations, the Tower of London.

The World Premiere, on the evening of 18th March, will welcome a host of Game of Thrones stars, and marks the first time that the world premiere has been held in Europe.

Since launching in 2011, Game of Thrones has become a bona fide TV phenomenon, keeping viewers guessing with a string of headline-making twists and turns and, as is tradition, the producers are keeping tight-lipped about what’s to come. Respecting the impenetrable cloak of secrecy that shrouds the show, there couldn’t be a more fitting venue than the high-security home of the Crown Jewels, one of the world’s most famous fortresses, to showcase the opening episode of season five for the first time anywhere to an invited audience from Sky’s home markets in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy.

In addition, Sky Atlantic will be offering a chance for 25 lucky fans to win a pair of tickets to the premiere. Details of the competition will be announced soon, and more information will be available via www.sky.com/tv/show/game-of-thrones.

Commenting on the premiere, Gary Davey, Sky’s Managing Director of Content said:

“Across Europe Game of Thrones is loved by Sky customers and a brand defining show for Sky Atlantic. As the exclusive home of Game of Thrones in our home markets, it’s tremendously exciting for Sky to host the first World Premiere in Europe with our partners from HBO.”

Director of Sky Atlantic in the UK, Zai Bennett added:

“Game of Thrones is the must see show of the year and a massive show for Sky Atlantic so I am delighted we will be hosting the World Premiere for this epic show at the Tower of London. I can’t think of a more fitting venue to give what promises to be another unmissable series its big launch.”

Sky TV and NOW TV customers who have missed – or want to revisit – the series to date can catch up ahead of the arrival of the new, fifth season with Game of Thrones S1-4 TV Box Sets available On Demand with Sky and NOW TV from 1 March.
