Here at THN, we’re always eager to share and help promote indie films and THE DARK HORSE is definitely one to keep on your radar. Released in UK cinemas this Good Friday, April 3rd, it stars Cliff Curtis with a remarkable performance, alongside rising star James Rolleston (BOY), and is directed by James Napier Robinson.
THE DARK HORSE is based on the true story of charismatic New Zealand chess champion Genesis Potini. Plagued by mental illness and a difficult relationship with his brother, Genesis overcomes his personal demons to inspire local disadvantaged youths with his infectious love of chess. Setting up the Eastern Knights chess club – a club that still exists today – Genesis provides hope for a group of children who have none; in turn finding his own purpose in life.
