It may not have set the box office alight in 1982, but digital realm saga TRON is developing nicely thirty-odd years on. Belated sequel LEGACY followed in 2010, and after its success a further instalment was on the computerized cards. This prospect has now received a boost, thanks to the confirmed involvement of some key talent.

While producers Disney have yet to put neon pen to black paper and launch the project, sequel stars Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund are attached to reprise their roles as Quorra and Sam Flynn. Director Joseph Kosinski is also back to line the lenses.

There’s no word on whether original actors Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner are revving up for more cyber-bike-based mayhem. Daft Punk composed the score for the most recent film, and may well be buying more synthesizers for TRON 3. Justin Springer has been named as producer.

With the pivotal players raring to go, it would surely be a malfunction for the House of Mouse to hit the off switch on this enduring and innovative brand.
