Jurassic World Brings Back Familiar Character, Disregards Previous Sequels

One of the original stars of Steven Spielberg’s classic 1993 movie JURASSIC PARK is return for this year’s JURASSIC WORLD, according to director Colin Trevorrow. No, not Sam Neill or Laura Dern, but the old battered T-Rex that roared at the end of the first movie after totally demolishing a couple of ‘Raptors.

Trevorrow revealed all to /Film.

“The T. rex that’s in [‘Jurassic World’] is the T. rex from the original ‘Jurassic Park’She is 22 years older. But she’s not limping around. […] We took the original design and, obviously, technology has changed. So, it’s going to move a little bit differently, but it’ll move differently because it’s older. And we’re giving her some scars and we’re tightening her skin. So, she has that feeling of, like, an older Burt Lancaster. And this movie is her ‘Unforgiven'”

The director also that his new film will also disregard the last two sequels in the Universal franchise. This is taken from a set report, conducted by Yahoo! Movies.

According to Trevorrow, the previous sequels aren’t being written out of continuity so much as placed to the side, as they both unfolded on a different island.

I’m a little more excited by this latest news that any of the clips or trailers that we’ve seen thus far, and it shows that the filmmakers are looking to honour the memory of the first movie, and perhaps offer us a little bit of nostalgia, while hopefully giving us something new and fresh at the same time.

JURASSIC WORLD opens everywhere June 12th.
